    wondered if anyone could thow any light on what this may be , its a small buttonlike thing that i found stuck to the inside of my front wheel hub, during my renovation,

    its stuck on with sone silicon type glue, its plastic with writing on it

    that's exactly it.
    so it appears its fitted at Yamaha to track the bike (or wheel) through production.
    so I can just chuck it? yes? .has anyone else found any of these?

    Google it. ("trovan 300 A.E.G.") Apparently a lot of folks, on a lot of different bikes.

    I would keep it simply as something unique to your bike......

    You could have fun with it........put it in your car, put it in your friends car, put in on a snowmobile................mess up the system real bad :)

    My guess would be that it was from the wheel manufacturer, to aid Yamaha in keeping track of which wheel was which in the assembly plant. (Yamaha doesn't/didn't make their own wheels.)

    That is exactly what those tags are for. It helps manufacturers keep track of production rates, inventory (of both product and materials), and shipping.
