I thought I'd leave a note about the tci unit which failed. I had a short on a coil and this in turn blew a transistor in the tci unit. I did cut out the work fault finding through the harness, the purchase of new coils etc etc.

So I stripped the tci box down, I cut through the plastic so as to keep the main connectors in place. I checked the board for failed components but everything looked fine. I then went through all the posts I could find to get the modern replacements for the transistors.

if you search on eBay for MJE5742 (£3.25 + 89p p&p) these fit back into the original foot print and work.

The spark is big and blue so I'm one happy man.
