I know the 550 Seca's is plastic, but is it possible to retrofit the chrome item of a 550 Maxim onto the Seca?
    thanks all.

Sure. The swingarm (that it bolts to) is the same.

However, take a close look at one. (They're a different shape.) The one from the Seca does more "guarding" and better contains chain lube "fling" than the one off the Max.

I thought about it myself; actually I was thinking about having a chrome one powder-coated in black for my Seca until I realized it was not an improvement in function. Plus they're a tad too "swoopy" for a Seca, IMHO.

Thanks BF. My plastic one is badly deformed although by using a heat gun and washers as spacers I have managed to position it so it no longer catches the chain or tyre. So far I have bought 2 more, both are just as bad as my original.
A search on ebay has just located a used stainless steel aftermarket guard specfically for the xj550. It was cheap, so I have bought it and hopefully it will do the job.
Good idea about getting it powder-coated :)
