XJ650 to R6 Front End Conversion Step by Step

    Did you check other front ends? The kids on VFRdiscussion have swapped GSXR and RC51 front ends on their VFR's. Some seemed easier than others. The R6 looks good on there. Very good work!

    thanks, I did not check other front ends though. I just ordered a whole front end off ebay and then took measurements and did what needed to be done to fit. If you have access to multiple front ends im sure you could find one that does not need to be machined but that would get vry expensive to just guess and check.

    That looks the dogs!!! Do you know if an R1 1998 front end will be the same process. Is the stem the same size...does it matter??

    hey mate, i am doing the same swap of forks with my bike,
    i am having trubles because the steam since to be too small and i can not put the dubble bolts on the top of the steam,
    did you put only one?
    if you did, did you have any problems with steering ?

    Those are jam nuts. You absolutely must have both installed for them to lock the stem in place with the correct bearing preload. It looks to me like there is room for the top jam nut to fit.
