I've always used a YUSA 12a-a but I'm wondering if it's the best I can do. Is there a battery brand that is superior to others? I've seen Duralast, Diehard, and Napa brands. They all seem to be 165CCA with a 3-month warranty. Any advice?

I switched a couple of years ago to an AGM sealed battery . Great upgrade.

I've used Motobatt AGM starting in 2016 and they've been great. Have one almost 6 years old and still going strong.

The XJ650J battery is common enough that I picked one up from the local auto parts store. It’s just a plain old lead acid model but it works just fine. I take it out in the winter and occasionally plug in the battery tender. On its third season. If I get 4-5 seasons out of it I’ll be happy.

Other models use some not-as-common batteries so you may need to be a little more creative than just going down to the parts store.

When I got my XJ700N somebody had put an undersized battery in there. That did not work well.
