Does anyone have a reputable source for the number of XJ650RJ's imported into the US back in 1982? I know that the bike flopped despite being a stunner. I bought my first in Vacaville, California in June of 83, a lonely leftover from the previous year. Love at first sight!

Nope, I don't but I do like the style. Vacaville? There wasn't a durn thing out there in 83' except the loony bin and the base. Did not know there was a bike shop out there.

Vaca Valley Yamaha, just down the road from Charlie's Big House. I still have a license plate frame from there with the phone number on it (707-447-3715). I don't think they are in business anymore.

Traded in my 80 650 Maxim for the RJ, which I went on to rack up 115,000 miles over the next five years. I just bought another RJ two weeks ago. Took her out today and did 100 miles on two gallons of gas, just like the old days! I'll never let this one get away.

Hope the ride out in Virginia is as pleasant as the wine country was. I love to wander down 680 every now and again, especially in the spring when everything is green.

Oh, I'd say California wins the geography contest, but Virginia has some very nice riding. I'd choose the redwoods or Tahoe over the Blue Ridge Mountains, but the Blue Ridge beat central Florida or Kansas any day (no offense to our Floridian or Kansan brothers and sisters, of course).

One thing California can't beat Virginia in is green. Virginia is lush from now until October, whereas I remember California having more of a dry, brown theme all summer. Two seasons, right? Fire and water.

You've obviously been here before! All this rain this year has got a lot of folks worried about fire season already. They didn't name it the Golden State for nothing.
