Nice looking ride, and you have a relatively hard to find luggage rack & back rest. Welcome!

Yes yes, 83 xj750m here. Had it since 2013, paid $700, battled some mechanicals, and have been riding it since.

I found the bike on Facebook Marketplace. There was only a picture of the fuel tank and also the front light. I told myself taking a shot wont hurt too much and when the owner opened the door i was baffled. Didnt drove since 1987 and was in a perfect shape besides some little scratches here and there. The seat is in a perfect condition. the plastics are top condition. Only thing that bugs me a bit is the paint on the valve cover looks to peel off easily.
Beside the exhaust baffles that have rotten so i changed both of them. i'll keep my MidMax fully original. Just started it today at a temperature of -10 celcius and she doesnt like it at all. Took a while just to make her purr.
I'll wait till it gets warmer to hear her again. What a fantastic sound she got.
Fully rebuilt carburetors. Full fuel tank lining. New front brakes. New DT404 tires. New suspension shaft seals and i think that's it. I'll probably change the clutch plates real soon because the bike didnt ride since 1987 and i read about clutch plates being corroded for seating a while. I can't wait

I've got a 81 that needs lots of work. Photo of it in my Dads barn, and now with fresh powder coated frame. The rest is still a pile of parts currently.

Wow eric, a diamond in the super ruff, glad you committed to bring that black beauty back to life. For brian asking for a price mine cost 300.00 Im sure it will be different anywhere you go.

Mine cost $200 at a little shop near me, I think they were happy to have something to do at the beginning of the pandemic so I got a bit of a deal. I think getting the "gold" trim back to life will be the hardest part. I've read here about it actually being brass plated, and finding someone near me to do it for the cheap my be a challenge.

I believe your right on the brass on the side covers i have a small chip on one of my covers and you can see two different materials. Im still looking for one side cover badge and a gas cap then mine will be 100 % well 99% forgot the chip.
