When we started the Michigan Norton Owners we made up fliers and posted them in bike shops in the area. We had the advantage of a list from the International Norton Registry of owners in Michigan. You have the innanet now tho, so...start here. I'm in. Carl? Lt. Dave (when you heal?)

    sat august 23rd sounds good

i figure we will start somewhere scenic like hines park drive around 9 am
and we will end in commerce

there is an event in commerce at a conservation club i belong to called good old days it would be a cool way to end a run
there is bbq, car shows, bike show, pony rides, kid stuff, givaways, live band, shooting events, and more it runs from 10am to midnight so we could ride any time

i think a scenic cruise ending at an event like that would be cool

everybody on any kind of bike is welcome, but the emphasis is getting as many classic bikes together as possible

    Brent,

Bring some fliers to my shop or email to me. Most of my customers have bikes from the 70s and 80s.

The route from Hines Dr. up to Multi-Lakes should have some thought put into it. STAR had a leg of a ride from Belleville to Commerce which went up Hagerty, pure hell. I wonder if a good route could be worked out from Hines Dr. West to N. Territorial, then pick something else up coming back N.E to commerce.

i havnt riden that area much i guess we could just meet at hines dr west
and get everybodys opinion on which way to go from there the last time i rode in a group bigger than two was at micarls carb clinic
that way we can ride as long or as short as we want
if its better for anybody else we could start at multi lakes and ride later

i have never planned one of these before and any opinions would be great

there is a bike and car show at multi lakes that day judging is from 11 to 1 and awards is at 3
like i said the rest of the events go on all day

when and where should do you all think mixing the two events is a good idea or should we put the ride to another day (yes i realize its coming up real soon)

i wanted to get it all done by then but its just not likely to happen

however i still wanna do this classic cruise what days are good for everybody here

Livonia is a near western suburb of Detroit. Brent, despite the fact that I'm nearly as far away, I'll try to make it down, at least to say hello.

    Brent,

Thanks for putting this ride together! My thanks to everyone who came out, maintenance issues and learning a valuable lesson about spare keys aside, it was a great ride.

    the ride went pretty well
    we had 9 bikes
    4 xjs
    2 hondas
    1 bmw
1 new yamaha (he couldnt get his classic started)
    1 new victory

we rode for a couple hours i put over about 85 miles on my bikes
we had one break down (he managed to get restarted and get home)
and we had to pull one of the chrome side covers off of the victory because he dropped his key in there when we got gas

all in all it was a very pleasant ride
the sky was blue and the sun was shinning all day
and i got a list of names and emails for future classic rides i plan on doing this a few times every year and hopefully the group will just keep getting bigger i have had at least 15 people tell me that they couldnt make it this time but if we do it again they will come

i am putting together a mailling list for future rides if you or any friends you have would like to be a part of it send me your info at classicbikecruise@yahoo.com pass the word

    thank you all for coming
    see you again next year

Whell its riding season again and i would like to get a couple of group rides going this year
I have been putting together a list of classic bike riders in the drivable area around southern michigan (ohio, ontario, chicago) so far i have around 35 names from xj bikes and about 6 other guys with different types of bikes
I will be setting up a ride in either next month or the month after if anybody has suggestion on dates and or locations give me a pm or just reply to this post

By the way if anybody in the area wants to learn to tune their carbs i have all the equipment (colortune, mercury sync gaugejust, the tool for checking shims) send me a pm you are welcome come over and use it anytime (but this is not what i do for a living if you wanna just drop it off and have someone else do it, check out micarl he knows his stuff and he will treat you right)

Has this Ride Happened yet?? I'm not sure how it took me over 2 months to see it.

I have rode M25 numerous times. A couple times to the end. It follows the coast of Lake Huron. There are a few road side stops a couple campgrounds. Its a long ride to the end but plenty of places to stop and stretch your legs. It would be a VERY long ride for the southern riders.
