    Hi
Couldn't figure out how to send a photo in a pm (and I should be working!) so have attached a pic of the regulator wiring as requested. The fifth wire is earthed to the regulator body. These do seem a bit of an oddity as most XJ's seem to have the larger finned regulator with extra wiring. I got my regulator from Yambits, was listed as for an RD350LC but (have been told) is the same as the later XJ.
    Cheers

    Peter

    Thanks, Peter.

When my regulator turned up it has FIVE terminals not the four I was told, however, the 5th is just a ground. I had to find a picture of a Diversion wiring loom for the connections!!! Early Diversions used the same layout as late XJ600's and the later ones (But not the US) use 5 terminals and they've gone back to the "Finned" style.

Good old Yamaha seem to have used a variety of bits, just enough to catch you out.

PS message to the mods - please don't ban me for talking about bloody regulators all the time!!!

Now why would we do that? Your problem/solution could very well be the saving grace for some other poor bloke.
This stuff is why we are here.
    Rant on.
