Junk in my trunk!

I love the trunk on my bike!

Things I always have in there: a square of carpet, my cap and a few basic tools.

Things I have fit in there:

When I am by myself and go into a store I can get out my cap to wear and then lock my full-face helmet and leather jacket in there.

When taking my boy to little league games: 2 baseball gloves, 2 caps, water bottles and a spare hoodie, and (and I bungie his bat sideways across the back of the seat right in front of the trunk)
On one really hot day, I put my Coleman mini-cooler filled with 6 chilled water bottles in there and tucked his glove and both our caps along the sides.

When taking my wife out: We can each have a spare sweatshirt or flannel jacket, water bottles, my cap, etc. There us enough room to be able to lock one helmet inside the trunk if we go into stores. We also have on various occasions, gone out to eat and brought home leftover chinese food, pizza, etc in there.

I went grocery shopping and put in my trunk: a frozen pizza, loaf of bread, jar of peanut butter, jar of jelly, carton of ice cream, coffee cream, and bottle of honey.

I've gone to autozone and picked up 5 qts oil and filters for both cars.

Plus is has a backrest for the VIP (very important passenger).


What do you guys put in your trunks?

 

Just like you I take trips most anywhere and whatever I pick up will go in the trunk and sidebags. I'll put anything that will fit in there. If it does not fit I keep several bungie cords in there and strap it down somewhere.

 

Ever since my wife discovered the trunk I can't put anything in there. :cry:

 

Well, if she's riding with you it's good. If she's just using it for storage, then it's bad.

I had a trunk on my Goldwing but can't bring myself to do that to my bike.
I did hang a pair of leather bags on mine though.

Mine used to have a rack when I got it but I got rid of it when I went thru it.

 

Mine is a soft trunk that is held on with bungees and I use it every time I ride. If I'm worried about theft, I just remove it and carry it with the attached handle. Since most of my riding is in the desert & mountains, I always carry a rain suit, cell phone, bottled water, hat, extra room for pull-over or jacket liner etc.

 

I purchased the bike with the trunk (and Vetter fairing) already on it. You might find a deal on ebay or a local shop/salvage yard.

 

ski84, that's a nice bike. The trunk being detachable is a nice feature.

What kind of tires are those?

 

Thanks...The rear is an old Bridgestone Spitfire I believe. I have since changed to Kenda Challengers.
