    Hi friends,

I know this has been probably discussed elsewhere but I haven't been able to find the answer.

What other bikes have used the same clutch cable as the 86 700 Maxim-X, can somebody tell me please.

Or, I'm again sure that I read elsewhere, can somebody point me in the direction of the site that will tell me what bikes used the same parts, I have the part number.

I would imagine though, if the part was used on an earlier bike, the year code would be the only thing different on the part number. Can somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

The reason I say that is I did a search on google with my part number and the 1982-3 XT200 came up, and the only thing different was the year code.

The code for my clutch cable is 1AA-26335-00-00 and the part number for the 82-3 clutch cable was something like 15T-26335-00-00. SO is this part and my part one and the same part i.e interchangable?

    Thanks everyone.

    Pete

On the XJCD set there is a parts cross-reference program, and if one strips off the model code there are a metric buttload of bikes whose clutch cables use ???-26335-00-00 for a part number.

I did a quick google as well, and ran across a site that showed the cable as 47.75 inches long, and would work on an XJ750, XJ700, XT200 and an XT125. If you can measure the length of the cable you want to use, that should give you an idea.

Did you check with Chacal to see if he had any in stock?

Pete....the first three positions of the OEM part numbers describes the bike MODEL CODE that the part was first used on. So in this case, the XJ700 cable (1AA-26335-00-00) was first used on the XJ700 models (which have a model code of 1AA), while the 15T-26335-00-00 cable was first used on the 15T model bikes (whatever those are).

Control cables differ in more than just their overall length (sheath length, mounting methods, tube angles, etc.). It is generally a useful stratgey to get the proper cable for your bike to avoid other problems.

Thanks for the usefull input from both of you.

Hows this for rip off Yamaha. I've just contacted my local dealer and he quoted me £23.99 for the Maxim-X clutch cable. I'm quite friendly with him, so told him that I had done a search online, and that I'd been informed that the same cable was fitted to the XT125, XT 200 and asked him this was in fact correct, He checked and came back to me and said that YES the 2 cables are exactly the same. He'd checked by taking both cables out of the packets (as the computer also verified that they were the same cable) and inspected them visibly. Then said they were indeed the same cables.

He then proceeded to tell me that the code on the package for the XJ stated the correct code as I had stated, but it also had the XT's code in brackets underneath my code, and the code on the Xt's package was correct and had the XJ's code in brackets underneath.

Like I said earlier the XJ cable is £23.99, but the best news was, The XT's cable was only£7.50 !!!! ?? I asked why such a large price difference and he said one word....YAMAHA
