Possible Mistake on Carb Boots (Maxim XJ700)

Brief rundown:

Bought this bike ('85 Maxim XJ700) originally for parts for another project, turned into a project of its own. It came pretty much complete with the exception of the carb boots. This is my first bike, and by default, my first XJ, so I really wasn't sure what I was dealing with. I believe now that the intake boots I bought were off an XJ700 X, though I'm pretty sure they were not listed as such. They seem longer than they should be, and bend downward, so the carb bodies sit on an incline. If the bowls don't actually touch the generator, then there is minimal clearance at best. It came with the airbox, and there is seemingly no way they line up. My question is this:

Would the added length of the intake run have any impact on the YICS system, and consequently on a proper carb sync?

If not, and it's just a matter of the airbox not lining up properly, I will probably just re-jet for pod filters. I'm not concerned with peak performance, not going to put it on a dyno, but I do want it to get up and go when I tell it to.

If so, and I do end up needing to replace them, I'll have some 700 X boots up for sale soon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
