In need of info or links

Sorry to squatt this forum for this kind of request, but I googled "Raynal" and didn't find nothing very informative.

Here is the bike I just picked up today at the recycling center:



It is dirty but chrome is very nice for what looks like a 50 years bicycle.

I'd like to know where I could find parts for this or how to fix the 3-speed "tranny".
Make is "Raynal", made in Birmingham, England.

 

Sturmey archer hub? Usually utterly reliable. What are the symptoms? Do you know how to adjust the cable that goes into the axle?

I didn't try to shift into 2nd and 3rd. all I know about it is that the selector has been locked in 1st gear. There should be a good reason.

Both tires are flat so I haven't have a test ride yet.

I'm pretty sure it won't shift unless it's in motion.

NICE FIND! Definitely worth a gentle resurrection/mild resto.

Is the "spool" in the front hub the generator? I see lights but no power source and the front has a rim grabber brake.

 

I have a vague recollection of the adjustment...there is a shoulder on the rod that should align with the end of the axle when it is in one of the three gears...possibly second...just Google adjusting sturmey archer and you will find it. Cable may also be also be rusted solid. Front dynamo hub for sure. Spokes will need uniform tightening of course.

 

Yes, front dynamo hub. This feature, in addition to the nice 50 years-old chrome parts, convinced me that it could be a fine bike.

The digits on the rear hub are "61-2" and "AW". I think it means the hub was made in 1961 and it is an AW model, which is supposed to be the Sturmey-Archer more common model ever made, according to an article on the Sheldon Brown's site. Very well documented site, BTW. I also registered on the oldroads site, lots of passionate guys there!
