I just did an online quote with them and they were about 1/3 of the price of the local agents around here. Does anyone have any history with them?

I use em, $71 a year. Never had to file a claim with them but i'm just carrying the basic liability which is really only good if I hit something.

About $125 a year, for two bikes.

I let a buyer who also has progressive ride my VStar1100 Classic that I was selling , and he got rear ended. They refused to pay saying it was under my $500 deductible. That buyer bought it anyway. He's spent over $700 already repairing it, and still has a way to go... And he's doing his own labor. It would easily be a >$1200 repair if done in a shop.

So, since my premium was due, I switched to Geico, it costs more but they've covered me completely and fought for me in two not-my-fault accidents with my auto.

I also increased my coverage to a much higher level that Progressive offered me, hence the higher premium.

I guess you get what you pay for.

I use Geico. $58 a month for liability in Ohio on a Toyota Camry, Mercedes 260E and my Maxim. 2 drivers, no at fault accidents or tickets over 5 years.

I pay around 150 a year for progressive with one xj550 maxim. I have not had the pleasure of using the insurance yet fortunetly. So my only experience with them is paying the bill. I am 24 so mine is a little pricey still. The thing I like about progressive is that mine is through a local insurance agent. So every time I shop for a new bike I call her up and get an insurance quote before I get to serious about the bike. I always end up keeping my 550 though because I cant justify the enormous insurance bills for a newer bike with more displacement.

I use Geico, due to the fact that when my uncle's neighbor registered my XJ750 back in 82, the state of WI used a different number than the vin, Progressive wouldn't insure it, saying that I had to have a 17 number vin, Geico did it with the number that I had, I guess it's a combo of the engine number and part of the vin. Not sure what happened. I think i pay around 90 or so for a year in GA

I use American Family Insurance. I pay $11.00 per month for basic and $27.00 for a $200.00 deductable on full coverage. If your Bike is totaled enough for full coverage, you probably wont need it cause you will not be walking away from it. Every state is different as far as premiums go but my agent told me to insure it only during the riding months and that would save me a butload of money.

I ended up going with Progressive. I pay $139/yr for full coverage with maxed limits and a $100 deductible. For that much a year I won't even bother with dropping it for the winter!

I use progressive for my xj700, for full coverage 111.00 a year. No winter down time, even though I am Colorado. I ride year round whenever I can. Just need to put on warmer cloths in the winter. Price went down this year by 8.00 Haven't had to use them, good thing, but am happy with the coverage

Oh boy. Well I was through Jevco, and I paid $2066.00/yr last year, and it dropped to $1245.00/yr this august when I renew. I'm also 24 & a newer rider. Still, unbelievable that my great "deal" on the bike is almost pointless with the 2G insurance rates. Believe it or not, my 91 Honda civic is even more. Not a bad driving record either. :S

I'm 21 and I pay $87.00 a year for liability on my XJ550 Maxim. It was cheaper than any other insurance company.

Well I have been an Insurance Agent with Progressive for awhile(among many other Insurance Companies)
I am with Nationwide currently for 102/year HIGH LIMITS OF LIABILITY.

One of the reasons you rates did not increase...you were not the AT FAULT DRIVER You company can not SURCHARGE for an accident you(or one of your LISTED drivers) did not cause. (Certin "Discounts" may not apply to that rule, please check w/ your agent if you are reciving an "No Violation/Claims Free" Discount)
THAT INFO IS STATE SPECIFIC FOR PA AND TEXAS. CHECK WITH YOU LOCAL AGENT REGARDING INSURANCE LAW

These guys have been around for as long as I can remember. My uncle told me ages ago about how he used them too. Real cheap on their coverage too. Just dont have an agent though(I guess thats good if you dont WANT one.) I still like having some agent do the work for me and EXPLAIN it to me :)

Your a Columbus, Ohio guy. Figured you would be a Nationwide Customer

Until you increase coverage...you will NEVER have to file a claim. For LIABILITY ONLY policies, the other party(the ones you injure or cause property damage) will file the claim with your company. You mainly cooperate with the adjuster until the process is completed

    Ouch! 8O

Ouch is an understatement Fault! Arbs, you need to do some shopping. Have you tried a broker? I don't like them much either but they did get me a reasonable quote for my first year of bike insurance (yes, it was with Dairyland) and was plunking down under $70 a month (1987-88). 2K a year is just unreal! You super-rich or have some other real property liability? Fault, you gotta do something! Refer the poor (literally) fellow to someone that can rescue him from being gouged!

Ok, so now I notice where Espanola(and Jerry) are. He is one of our northern, hockey lovin, snot freezing, HIGH INSURANCE(BIKES) brothers.

I dont know much of the North of the border laws and such. But from the feedback in THIS forum, people North pay TONS for their insurance. Your best bet would be to do some shopping for COMPARABLE COVERAGE

I'm with progressive currently (first year having a motorcycle too). I'm 22 and for a 1994 seca2 I pay about $400 for full coverage (max liability, medical, etc). My Uncle told me if I was going to ride, I should start with the maximum amount of insurance and work my way down as I get more experienced.

I got quoted at Geico for the same bike at $1250 or so for a full year. Absolutely ridiculous if you ask me!

I'm currently looking at getting a newer R6 in the near future (or other similar sport bike), and for minimum coverage, I'll be looking at $300 per month. But I'm still trying to decide if it'll be worth it to take that risk of having almost no insurance on a sportier bike...probably not.

just to make things interesting here in FL its actually legal to ride a MC with no insurance at all so when somebody has such a piss poor driving record that their car insurance is so high they cant afford it they just get a bike and ride without any. yikes....

That is a frightening concept Chili!
We enacted a maditory insurance registration with the DMV last year and if you let your coverage expire or you cancel it, they cancel your tags! It is supposed to ensure more drivers are covered. Of course the yahoos that didn't insure in the first place aren't going to care too much one way or the other, they will just lift some poor bugger's tags and drive with illegal tags.

I've got mine through progressive. I'd pay something like $117/year for basic liability, and about 200 for liability+comprehensive collision and replacement on my bik(Listed my bike at $3,000.00). It will drop I think 5% next year however, as I have finished a MANYS course. Also keep in mind that I'd never had insurance on any vehicle before, am a male under 25, and unmarried.

I use Progressive. $209 a year for 2 bikes, full coverage. XJ750 and XR250. I jacked up my under- and un-insured coverage (a good thing to do) I also lowered my deductible to $250. I also insure my pick up trucks with them. I used DairyLand for my first bike and they were by far the cheapest Liability Only rate I could find. My only issue with Progressive is they automatically renew my auto insurance and just take the money out of my account, but they won't do that with the bikes. I have spaced it only to realize I had been riding for a month without insurance.
Progressive will also let me cancel my coverage when the bikes are winterized or being modified, for no charge and reinstate the coverage when I call them.

    Ride Safe

Im paying $253 a year for liability only.

Of course, single male under 25 with a 50mph over the limit ticket on his record isn't going to look good.

Hopefully when I renew it will be less because my points will have dropped off my record and I'm getting married in July.

That reminds me; I've got to install that radar detector on my bike...
