I do not know if you class this as a mdoification or not but here it is

I have a large U bolt type lock for securing my bike but is difficult to carry when not in use. So I welded to bits of tube under the number plate like this.

It lifts up the number plate slightly but not enough to affect seeing the number or stop it from being lit by the lamp.

It will go and get powder coated along with the frame :)

Geeze, that plate is covered with cancer! You getting the frame done too? Hope so, nip it now before it becomes even worse/more expensive.
BTW, nice MOD! Slick thinking and be sure to radius the opening I.D. of the tubes or the metal will mess up your lock paint/coating.

    Apply for a Patent.

Despite the rust issue your idea is Brilliant.

This being a very public forum ... some enterprising soul might be thinking of making them by the thousands and having them ready in time for Christmas.

We have an excelent engineering dpt at work and we tend to work on the bartar sytem between departments (much like "Bartar Town" in Mad Max III) so the plate, frame and any other parts will have the cancer removed forth-with, and the cost----some of the guys in my dept will do some electrical repairs if required sooner rather than later
