I bought a cable luber and it's not worth the plastic bag it was wrapped in.
Are there more than one kind of cable luber, and if so where do I get one?

Did you slide it down onto the cable housing? Tighten it up good? Got the right size straw inserted? I love mine, sorry to hear of your problems. I'm wondering why the problem is occuring. Details please?

What problems are you having? Mine's been good as gold - so much easier than the old bag tricks we used to have to do.

The lube just comes out everywhere. and none is going threw the cable. Yes I put it in to the right size step to fit the cable housing and it still comes out where it should not.

Hrm - you've detached the cables - and put the sheath inside the clamp?

What brand is it - can you see it online? I'll look for the one I have and compare.

Looks like silicone components. Good stuff for longevity and resistance to chemicals. Mine has rubber but it works fine even after 15+ years of abuse. I'm not sure why your having issues unless you happen to be using this on a cable that is either too small or too big for the size range of the tool. Woot, your two cents?

I'm not sure if mine's silicone or not I'll have to check in the morning. I do know it's black, not red like this one.
The cable shield fits to the second notch in. It fits snug.
Is there such a thing as a sealed cable, and thats a problem?
The cable slides fine, no binding. And there's clearance between shield and cable for flow. Either it's sealed or blocked. If it were blocked I would think the cable would bind. Maybe I'll try from the other end in the AM, See if I have any luck.
    Thanks guy's
It was about 88deg. today, shame I had to work. Gotta do a 1/2 day tomorrow.

88 degrees F? And you didn't take advantage of it? Tsk tsk. I'd have at least had lunch outside. It was raining on and off all day out here. We need it though, so I'm not about to complain. Is it possible you got a bum luber that has not had the hole for the straw to pass through finished correctly? Try passing a drill bit through it for starters. If it is clear, let's try the side gap. Does it close completely? If it doesn't, the symptoms you described would be a certain result. If the gap does not close all the way, you will need to find out why, threads on the thumbscrew incomplete, stripped? I'm so sorry you got a lemon Rich, they really are invaluable tools. Last resort would be to buy another (I would do this as the tool is really handy). Hope the day passes swiftly for you tomorrow, put it to good use.

That blue one is the model I have.

Come to think of it - I once made a mess with the luber... is it flying out around the shealth?

Now when I put my cable in - I slide the clutch cable and knob out the back of the luber. I pressed the shealth and metal boot into the luber as far in as possible. This helps make the seal - if you have it too near the front of the boot it doesn't make a good seal around it and it sprays everywhere.

Other than that - it must be defective as Richard was saying.

hrm - is it the throttle cable by chance?

I'm looking at my spare and trying to figure it out - not as nice as the clutch cable to do.

    Hey woot;
No I don't think its coming out around the shield, it seems to seal there pretty good. Yes it is the clutch cable.
Maybe I'm using to thick of a lube. It's made by Castle, and it's chain and cable lube. I get off at noon so I'm going to first try some brake kleen and try to flush it out. If that doesn't work I'll try lubing from the other end. it just has threads to seal on at that end but I think the tool will seal ok.
Most everything that comes back out is leaking around the portion where the cable itself sticks threw the tool.
I'll try these couple other things and see what happens.
Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll let you know later if it works out.
