I should change the final gear oil in the X. The service manual says SAE 80API GL-4 Hypoid gear oil.

    I have both Mobil-1 75W-90W & 75W-140W, I'm guessing the 75-90 is best choice?

Middle gear; I found nothing about oil levels in the manual. is that supplied by the engine oil?

I have the middle and final gear dipstick tool for oil levels on the XJ1100, can I use this tool for the Maxim-X rear & middle gear oil levels?

    Thanks

The middle gear is lubricated by the engine oil.

The XJ1100 dipsticks are not needed, as they are specific to that machine (and the XS1100).

The Final drive oil level is found by filling the final drive until oil begins to run out (just like on an automotive differential).

The 75-90 gear oil will be perfectly fine in the final drive.
