i have a 82 xj750 with the 1100 power plant. Tank on it currently is off the xj550 but has a small pin leak currently sealed with quiksteel. Does anyone know if XS tanks would bolt up as well?

if it is a pin leak why not just have it soldered?
what mods to the mounting system did you do to fit a 550 to a 750 frame?

I bought it this way actually tank was all dented up and had rust inside. We cleaned it up as much as possible but the rust remover ate a little hole in it. My buddy decided to try and tack a weld and blew a big hole in it. I don't know what modifications they had to do if any i do know the 550 doesn't have a fuel guage connection on the tank so honestly I'm assuming it's a 550 tank

The 650 maxim tank is a direct bolt-on interchange with the 750 maxim tank. The 550 maxim tank LOOKS about the same but the measurements between the rear mount and the rubber bushing guides are different. I doubt that it's a 550 maxim tank, unless someone relocated some things---- which HAS been done.... I've seen it done---
