I just bought a carb for a 1982 xj750 seca from ebay. When I took off the diaphragm I noticed the cover plates were missing that cover the air jets. They were missing on all 4 carbs. All of the rest of the parts were there.

Do I need those plates? Will the carb work just fine without them?

Are you sure they are missing? The only way to tell is to look closely at the hole below the two air jets. If there are thread in it, then the plate and the shoulder bolt are missing. If there are no threads, then you're not missing anything, since they weren't there in the first place.

Jetfixer is correct..... They eliminated then after awhile
