I found a really cool page talking about old Yamaha XJ750 endurance racers in the early 80's

here's the link in Japanese http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/okatasi2004/5918365.html

or my translation from Japanese, enjoy!

    (translation)
You become a little before, but "RACERS / No9" or would have purchased?
This is a special edition of FZ / FZR, but every time, it is every time ,, great content!
Well, I think you bought naturally because it is people who are looking at this blog (laughs)
Belatedly, this time in the story that I named after it, is one of the anecdote

Yamaha Speaking 2 strike, yourself GR, became indebted RZ, etc.
4 strike does not have dabbled in 4 shots in only XT and Theroux

Well the acquaintance "4 shots of Yamaha and In No interest?" There is sometimes referred to as. (He is the original FZ user)
It is rude towards the fan, but his is not good at Genesis engine.
It is of a very pinpoint reasons, but that 5 valve is what little ,,,

Because people who are riding was not there when the FZ, but did not have terribly to mind
Was also more users from getting to the FZR and 0W01.
Course racer also has increased, it surprised me was it was short of the maintenance cycle (hence high cost)
While staring at what aircraft of the head and a large number of valves in the workshop in the middle of the night
"I, may not be another dead would do" polish the port while saying, acquaintance of Rear View does not forget even now.
And I'm not good at hate is why. (PS. He is alive healthy)

But, this only is love! ! What is there thing.
    It is a "XJ racer".

Ancient Shimada players tried to Bol d'XS750,
Heck, I think the tuning parts, such as engine relationship was there?
Final Normal remains of the shaft? Of the side cover does not say anything!
XS1100 and Although it is the body that has diverted part of TZ, but will be there also the height of the body sophistication
"24-position, 83" 82 in the Bol d'to me are finished in 13th place.

This 82 "is a specification, but 83" is also appearance is almost the same specifications.
Early type of entrant of XJ750E / 0U28 series than Iwata RF in the same 82 "? Is
In 8 resistance is third place finish and imposing wartime career.
Final Yes to chain drive for, cab VM33, in part configuration of dedicated frame and 0W diversion
Korezo is aspects of exactly TTF-1 machine (IT of the tail lamp my looks downright tea eyes)
And 83 "appeared in. Front distinctive XJ750R the addition of the anti-dive system with damper exterior expressions
Frame is made of aluminum, cab has become in CR33. Elegant design of the Yamaha unique is beautiful!
Works odor has become high from this side (laughs)
And, my favorite was debuted in 84 ", is this" XJ750R / 0U28 "TTF-1 specification.
Well ~ F-1 of this year, F-3 together, this form, this color is great word! !
Yourself ♫'m did ichi time, was the Korezo feeling YAMAHA.

"# 25" of the image is sprint specification.
Without any of the under cowl processing, F caliper is no quick release type
In addition, it is in the state of umbrella without raising the tank. Different details when are compared with the endurance specifications below.
Incidentally mug wheel 4 spoke that is mounted on the vehicle
You apparently sometimes? ? I tried to find out so wanted was.
Company name? (Trade name?) Is "BEYMAG / Beimagu" the Italian-made, which has been used on the recommendation of the time EC Yamaha
Record that was used to TZ system was still slightly in Japan.
There is a problem with the delivery, etc. Unfortunately, I've heard that did not lead to long-term adoption.
TokiYoriyuki, you look at the image that has been attached to the racer of things at that time abroad, little (° д °) Hosu~i ... Death.

This is the icing on the cake, but although there are 3-spoke with the same design, there is made of "MARVIC / Mabikku".
Mainly was used in 50 ~ 125cc class.
It would be the circumstances of Achara, but talk Nante casting company is different only planners in together so a lot
It seems natural that there is a similar product

And, is this time the focus of the topic is this "0U28 for / MIKUNI TM (R) 33".
I have a "0U28" in the cab number. This is also, I was fascinated by the ultra-rare thing! !
The Chiyotto is the maintenance service, but came out also forgive blog UP.
Well received around something the story of the cab and frame, I gave the provision of several points story thankfully
Although cab story was Keihin only until now, seems Mikuni party was inspired in the previous VM33. (Laughs)
Now, Hey might also increase Mikunineta?
Goods itself so was scheduled to TTF-1 use of EC, it is almost brand new.
To this article is not installed, but if by the acceleration pump and engine braking for measures
That's right diaphragm damper is mounted. (See RACERS For ED)

Top cap is made of iron with a hinge. Quick expressions of it will be opened and closed fixed with D ring.
It is equipped with the idea of shortening working hours.

Since it is a Works goods Of course Mg body. Link, I am cut out of aluminum to pin both of cap.
The wire holder in welding traces fresh handmade goods, will be assumed for the actual alignment.
Funnel is Mikuni specialty of screw type. By the way funnel length was 31 mm.
Moreover, it is unlikely to work in-kind matching to avoid interference to the frame.

When is this angle you can see well the shape of the valve.
Hey nozzle position of the accelerator pump is worrisome
    [IMG]
Acceleration pump has been removed is the rod, it is not functioning.
At the time of the rider's right specialist Rya list of 2 strike was unfamiliar with the "engine braking" 4 strike unique in the majority
Therefore, it seems to have addressed the symptoms of relaxation wearing the air damper.
In addition, 4 strike familiar was there also be an uncomfortable feeling is for the rider, is layers removed is it even there.

Unfortunately XJ750R is completed in this year, will be able to take over the responsibility to the next FZ / FZR (0U45 / 0W74).
It was three years and a short time, but it is strongly impression remaining machines in their own.

However, I was fascinated Ganpuku, Ganpuku, a really good thing. Hey is the real thing may look at what
Courtesy and cooperation, thank relationship Dear. m (_ _) m

Received It was story fully open, why?
It is every time things while minority love my Footnotes but, by and ~ I was also such a thing
We would appreciate if you could think.

At the same, Yamaha story continues until it be - the next time.

Also Thank you for long term relationship this time.
    So also
    (end of translation)

Really nice find and a good read there. The chain drive conversion is very interesting.

    Cheers!

I found another site today in Japanese. http://www.europark.com/xj900/diary/dia20110328.html

There is a clearer indication of the position of the chain front sprocket and dry clutch conversion. I noticed they moved the chain tensioner to the front of the engine. I'm not sure what's going on with the ignition timing cover conversion? Looks like added oil passage? I think that might be a hall effect sensor above that? I've split open my old 750 engine and examined the case. I think the chain drive conversion is within my grasp and will have more info very soon. I'll need to swap the middle gear with a smaller one and use a primary chain to connect to the trans and correct the rotation of the output. XJ engine output spins backwards. Then I'll use the middle gear housing and a custom lengthened middle gear shaft extended out farther with splines for a sprocket. The cover would incorporate a support baring and the original output baring would be replace with a sealed one. I looked at the oil pathways and they can be easily blocked off without risk of oil flow to other vital areas. Stay tuned to my build thread for more details down the short road.

I like the hinged lid on the carbs.
