wont start unless prime 1st

    i changed the jets around on my xj750 had them the wrong way round and now it runs great without smoking only thing is if its sitting for a day or 3 it needs to be set to prime to get started is this normal? im guessing the carbies are drying out

    No, that is not normal, at least not in that short of time. First, check for fuel in the bowls. Sounds like one or more may be leaking down requiring the use of prime.

    thanks maybe i got few lose bowl screws maybe hopefuly realy tired of pulling the carbies out

    could be fuel rail o rings, leaky gasket.

    i turned it upside down and sucked on the fuel hose to test that the needles where sealing properly there was no leaks there in guesing if the fuel rail had leaks it would suck air

    it only takes a small drip drip drip to drain the carbs you would not necessarily be able to test for that in the way you discribed

    Sounds normal to me. I always prime my bowls (around 30 seconds) prior to a cold start. It usually doesn't take that long for the bowls to fill. My bike has no fuel leaks.

    I only need to use prime after the bike has sat for two weeks or more.

    ohwell guess its one of those things might be because the carbies are ultra clean
