I have the opportunity to get some motorcycle parts for my '82 xj650 for really cheap; aftermarket and maybe some replacement parts. I am trying to compose a list of things I need, but me, not knowing much about these have a few questions. First, are there any usual aftermarket parts that people add on to these bikes to "update it"? and also, is there a set of aftermarket coils that work with the TCI/CDI ignitor unit? Finally, I am thinking of getting a shorter set of rear suspension shocks to compensate for my short stature. Are there any particular brands you guys recommend? Thanks.

coils with 3 ohm primary resistance is what you need, the trick is getting them to fit in the space you have.
you might want to look for steering head bearings, wheel bearings, any exhaust parts.
if it's rubber or shines, buy it :)

Nos? Right side covers R hard to find, and so are carb boots (manifolds). Even if you don't need 'em, someone else here might, so you could help a bro out, AND turn a profit!

are the carb boots also called the diaphragm? I'm not quite sure what you are referring to.

The boots are also called the manifold. They're the rubber section that connect the carbs to the motors. I'll be ordering myself some in the near future.

rubber tubes from the carbs forward to the cylinder head = INTAKE MANIFOLDS

rubber tubes from the carbs back to the airbox = AIRBOX BOOTS

rubber seal surrounding/attached to the internal piston inside the carbs = VACUUM PISTON DIAPHRAM
