Hello everyone, i just recently purchased a 1984 xj750 rl for a relatively low price. My intentions were to absolutely chop this bike up and transform in into a brat style bike. However when i looked it up, it turns out this bike is "rare" and now in not sure if i want to ruin this with a lot of modifications. What do you guys think i should do?

Quite rare. And your bike looks quite complete. My vote is to restore it, or sell it off to someone who will.

restore rare. you should be able to find enough started mod bikes to not have to go all creative on something like the 84 xj750 rl

I think you guys are completely right. Once I get the bike back into good running condition, I will be selling it to someone who will enjoy the bike a little more than I will. Thank you you for the help.

NO CHOP OF THE XJ! I have a mint XK750RL that I've had since new in high school I'm currently in need of upper and lower bushings as well as oil and dust seals. Also a head gasket and cam chain galley gasket to stop a leak.

DO NOT CHOP the rare bike It was never meant to be a wrecked bike.

Do you have head gasket, or gasket kit including head gasket?
I have one of these rare bikes im trying to restore. Had to strip down engine to install air filter box.
Found all the valve sleeves had been reversed ex-inlet. And gasket and oil rings severely flat.
Need a head gasket now. Im in Australia so expect a fair bit of lead time. Thanks in advance

That’s a beautiful bike. I hope to get mine to that level eventually. Any idea if the fairing or the windshield are still available? My bike was laid down a couple of times and the fairing needs some work.
