That's what I'm looking for. Rebuilding a barn find and I want to be able to run on gravel roads and some dirt. Not off-roading, just crappy roads! Anybody have any recommendations? Tons of slab tires out there but nothing with a bit of bite

Here's what I have on my XJ650 - just go a new set and they're pretty good enduro tires for all types of roads from muddy and gravely paths to highway..

    Front - Bridgestone Front TW101 Trail Wing 100/90H-19 Blackwall Tire - 055891
    Back - Duro Rear HF904 Median 130/90S-16 Blackwall Tire - 25-90416-130-TT

BTW - they're both Tube tires so even though the rims are tubeless it's recommended to use tubes. This does add quite a bit to the mounting if you take them to a shop. They'll probably double the labor charge..

The Mutt was exactly what I thought of when I read the original post. Thanks for responding, Ribo. Prefect as always. What's road noise and wear like with that blocky tread?

Lol Cheers mate...It's actually ok - I was pretty surprised with the lack of noise. They're a bit twitchy and have some rumble at low speed when they're new but they bed in. Rumble is like you hear when you see those Jeeps go by with the same kinda tires. Wear wise, you get a little chicken stripping after a while just cos even though I corner like Rossi the center wear is just more pronounced but after riding pretty much every day I get a good year out of a set.

    Umm... Chicken stripping?

Sounds like we need a new thread in "Other Motorcycles".

Hmm. The back tire on the Rebel is almost square* because the center is so much more worn down than the edges. Ironic that it makes me scared (chicken!) to lean it over.

*It was like that when I bought it. Just hoping to get through the season before I replace.
