Yea we have all done that one. Now I just look out my truck window at the young fools and think was I that crazy back then? Yes
Last time I got caught in sub 40 weather was in Palm Springs 3 years ago. Buddy and I rented bikes and left out wives at condo and as sun went down so did the temperature. Light windbreaker and no gloves. When we left it was 85 and thought no problem but as we left Joshua Tree forest still had 40 miles to go as sun was setting .
Damn nuts were rattling so bad when I got back I thought they would fall off.

People keep asking me if I've put the bike away for the year. I keep saying "sort of". I have this goal in mind, wanna ride after the first snow. I wanted to be the last guy at work, but one of the dudes has a heated jacket and snowmobile gloves. He plans to go well into Decembrrrrrrr. I dunno about that.

I winterized mine, but it is still in front of the snow blower in the garage, just in case I get a riding day. At some point I have to swap them in the garage, at which point the XJ will be covered and left to hibernate.

42 degrees here with 30mph winds and I just finished up an 80 mile round trip ride with lunch in the middle of it at my favorite pizza place. I'm putting the Harley's away for the winter. But the seca and the kawi are still happily being ridden.

You Sir are awesome!!!!! The 30mph cross wind would be a no go for me at all. Don't like riding on a slant and being all over the road....for some reason my Seca really seems to take it hard. Does not seem to affect my son's maxim that bad though.

Well. I do live in Illinois So therefore 30mph is a bit more than the norm, but not like 60mph gusts I've been caught in before. That scares the bejesus outta me when I can't hold a lane no matter how hard I try. Nothing but corn fields so the wind really whips this time of year as the fields are being harvested. I hope to ride til mid November anyway

Yup I live in the land between the rivers here (Mississippi and Missouri) and it is flat and 99% farm land...now that the crops are out, the wind constantly blows. I don't know how many back doors I have had to replace over the years due to the kids not shutting all the way and it gets caught in the wind all day........easy riding in town, it is the 15 mile trip on a curvy 2 lane road to get to civilization that gets crazy.
