Yeah I think there is a slight difference in the width of the channel in the tank up in the area near where the rubber mounts go in. I think the xj650 maxim tank is just slightly wider there underneath near the mount area

I don't think so... I've a 750 maxim, with a 750 tank, and it's still incredibly snug to get it into those rubber mounts.

    Just how they are.

Celcius. Calgary is funny; it'll look warm and sunny but be below freezing, and it's often not immediately obvious that it's cold enough to freeze as the sun will be quite warm and intense. When it's colder (-20c = -5f) you know it right away :)

The problem though is that it's easy to go out when it's something like -5 to clean something, as if you're in the sun you'll be warm... but then you risk problems with water pooling in spots on the bike and freezing.

It's weird for me, as a Vancouver boy, because the sun is considerably more intense here than it was back home. Makes a strange, confusing temperature thing where it's really warm in the sun and freaking cold in the shade.

I took my front wheel to work with me today. At lunch i replaced the bearings. I bought the medium duty bearings / seals, from chacal, xj forever. The bearings are sealed so im wondering if i am supposed to fill the void in the seal with grease. Does anyone know?

I had meetings during peak "heat" today, but maybe tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

If they're SEALED..... it won't make a difference.

If it makes YOU feel better, fill the void--- with the BEST AND MOST EXPENSIVE grease you can find

I do this, and it makes me happy. I use horrifically over rated grease for everything, and even where it's not needed. I know it doesn't really matter, but even expensive grease is cheap, and I like to think my baby likes the good stuff :)

Easy there :) Nobody's giving you a hard time about it. I wasn't being sarcastic above, I was serious. I always pack everything in waterproof grease just to keep moisture out.
