#1 carb throttle shaft 83 XJ550 Maxim

I am in need of the throttle shaft for the #1 carb(left most carb) on my 83 XJ550 maxim. I am wondering if someone has one they will part with?

 

I will check I may have a spare one. I have a few bodies in a box in my cellar

Hi. I am new to this forum and a first time bike owner. I bought a 1982 xj550 maxim and am trying to find a gas tank for t but can see to find what I need. Can anyone help me here with either finding a tank or a good alternative. Thanks.

 

you could contact len at www.xj4ever.com his web site has his email ,, you could search ebay, or buy a parts bike. You can also start a thread in the wanted forums. search the wanted forsale forums ect

there are not any new aftermarket tanks that just bolt up.

ebay and parts bike tanks will likely need some sort of work done to them paint derusting insides adding liner.
some will include cap and petcock some wont

On the original tank I tried cleaning and coating the inside and it leaked in one spot. Then I sanded it down the spot and a couple other and tried a fiberglass tank repair on it and now have several leaks. So I'm sure I killed that tank.

 

I found a tank on eBay for 80 bucks. It' dinged up be the seller said it was in good working condition.

 

good you should read the methods for derusting tank on this site .

then when your ready start a thread about your bike in the tech forum with what you do have done and problems it will make it easier for us to help if you keep it all in one thread
