Hi, all. I'm in a hard spot with my bike and am hoping for some guidance. I'll try and be as concise and descriptive ass possible.

-The other day upon cold start i had a rough idle (not ridden for a week)
-Oil leaking from alternator, slow drip for a few months, did not know how serious it was
-This day oil poured out in greater volume than ever before (an ounce or two?)
-Removed old gasket, sealed with gasket paste, and sealed crack in cover (probably a huge mistake)
bike ran for a few days
-What looked like broken pieces of amber glass inside of alternator case
-Lost electricity while riding, bike died
-Opening throttle caused tach to drop, and stall
-Pop start worked, bike died minutes after
-Old battery was dead, charged it, rode it, died a day after
-Installed new battery, fluids in ideal levels, no power
-Main fuse blown, replaced that, blew instantly
-Smoke coming from what seemed top of alternator
-No neutral light, no horn, no click from starter relay
-Will buy multimeter to give more info

My mechanic is booked two months out. Not sure if its a wiring issue, bad starter, or regulator. Any ideas?
    Thanks for reading.

The amber pieces are part of the stator , you need to pull cover and check stator for open wires . Also check brush length on inside of cover , the rotor will have to be removed to get to the seal . Your charging system is kaput , I would not ride any further than you want to push it home . You have been running on the battery and it is not being charged ... Trust me on this one I once had a CB750 that the charging system was inop on , I tried a regulator no help was going to replace stator , the owner of Cycle Recycle part 2 said it was the rotor ...and he was right !!! This was common on the Hondas ..

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I will order a new stator come Friday. Would a faulty one explain leaking oil though? My mechanic said oil should NOT be there. I’m really new and unsure to this. Once the new stator comes in I will post a thread with photos asking for guidance. Anything else I should keep in mind before proceeding? Thanks again.

first of all, don't buy anything for that bike until you talk with this guy

you need to pull the rotor and put a new seal in there.
your going to need a stator, seal, brushes and something to pull the rotor with.
"chacal" at, info@xj4ever.com will fix you up

Blowing the main fuse is most likely caused by shorted diodes in the regulator rectifier assembly. You need to check the diodes in the regulator rectifier assembly before powering up a new stator because if they are shorted you might damage the new stator.
