    Hello all,
I recently bought a parts bike, 1983 XJ 750 to swap the forks to my xj650 so I can have dual discs up front.

Everything else is for sale on the bike. It is a running/driving bike so let me know what you need, all prices will be reasonable.

    Thanks

It is a Maxim. Not sure about the J or M part. What is the difference?

Would enjoy seeing the trials and tribulations of the dual brake conversion.

It's a direct swap from 650 maxim front to 750 maxim front. Swap the whole triple tree and everything for the suspension and brakes

Thanks for the tips! Yeah I’ll take some pics and post a write up on it. Luckily the xj650 wheels are predrilled for the second rotor!
    Here are some pics.

Correct, cuz they're the same thing. All you do is pop the plastics cover off. OR leave the whole assembly intact from the 750 and slide it out of the triple clamp, swap the triple over, and stuff it back in.

I'd like to buy the LOCKSET, if the key that's in the ignition also fits all the other locks including the seat/helmet lock, fuel cap, and wheel lock chain. Thanks!

Yes, that would work if it were an xj750K model but since your reply there are photos posted and it's sure looks like a J, which I believe was only sold as a 1982 model in the USA. And working from a J creates a problem, the triple tree is different and will not mount his 650 (round) headlight stay, nor the (round) gauges, nor his 650 handlebars. So, given all that, would it be best to mate the 750 lowers to the existing 650 tubes? The xj750K basically has an xj650 front end except for the dual disc brakes and brake lines and lower forks (with mounts for dual disc system). Buckhorn handlebars are another difference, which I believe requires a longer brake line from handlebar to "T" joint. And he will need a dual bango bolt at the "T" joint...and for that matter replace the two existing xj750J lines with (longer) xj750K lines to stretch from the "T" joint on the xj650. Basically, mimic the xj750K brake system design. BTW, I have some experience with this from recently restoring my 1983 xj750K (Canada model), which was missing among other things the entire front brake system except for the rotors (see photo below). Also, those handle bars shown in my top 2 photos are obviously not stock so I replaced them with xj650 Maxim bars...hope to find xj750K bars or xj550 Maxim bars, which are similar to stock xj750K.

XTMAG, I happen to have a spare (new) double bango bolt for the "T" joint, if you need one.

Ok, so after some digging, it is not a 1983, it's a 1982. I'll update the heading fo this post. Parts still available!
