    Hello! I bought this 1985 Yamaha Maxim X 700cc
I’m discovering some small issues. This I can across and have questions:
1.) why would there be a zip tie?
    2.) how can I make this correct/proper?
3.) should I be worried about this?

It looks like a bolt in the axle? And the zip tie to hold it in place? Someone has been creative over there... Take ik out and put in a cotter pin of the right size (one that just fits the hole) Check your bike for other creative solutions...

Oh no, brain fart... The hole is just for sticking in a screwdriver to pull out the axle so nothing has to be in there. Can you make a better picture of what's going on there?

The pin / clevis pin and zip tie are doing nothing and can be removed. The axle is held in place by the clamp-type arrangement on the swingarm.

the axle is a large spacer setting all the spacers and bearings to proper leangth when torqued.
the hole in the axle is where you put a rod when removing or installing the axle
the right side of frame is a clamp to hold axle it is clamped last.

1why the zip tie po was a ziptie specialist
2 make correct by removing pin and sip tie. make sure castle nut is properly torqued and bolt in frame is torqued to spec.
3 dont worry be happy . its all excess junk
