I just changed my oil and made sure to test for drips and it seems that I'm having a slow drip. I've narrowed it down to the filter housing as i see a clean stain on the paper towel i leave every night. I reverted back to old bolt o ring and giant o ring. now im waiting to see if the problem continues.

    note:
i fastened it properly, oring is seated properly, and the housing tab is in between the metal marker tabs.

Just wondering do i have to warm up the engine to build oil pressure in the housing and that will stop the leak?

No, definitely should not drip with the motor off, let alone under pressure. Since you said "giant o ring" you are probably aware of the issue with some thinner aftermarket stuff.

Sounds like you took care in seating it, but I have been fouled before when the centering tab hangs up very slightly on the clockwise side fin. Looks like it is fully seated, but isn't. It's an awkward two handed thing, but keep the filter housing turned against the anti-clockwise fin as you tighten the bolt, then let it center on the last little snug.

Hmm I tried rotating it as you wrote still dripping slowly. I'll try a tightening it up with the tab slightly closer to the anti clockwise fin.

I believe it's the drain bolt as I did catch a tiny glob developing the big fin of the filter housing. I cleaned up the housing with brake cleaner and wiped it dry and it looked shiny the next morning.

i tried using the new o rings from the fram filter but they were too small and didn't expand enough esp the bolt o ring. I just reused the old ones. right now im just playing with the position of the "tab" on the oil filter housing to see if it has a sweet spot for it to stop leaking. ive ordered some yamaha orings/gaskets and will leave it for now.

Those fram o-rings have been reported as junk. The WIX o-rings that come with filter are good.

Should've tossed those fram o rings. I replaced the o rings with the ones included with Parts Unlimited K15-0029. Gonna check tomorrow morning if it leaks. Now onto the final drive oil next.
