Hey guys my 1980 yamaha maxim with an 82 seca engine is almost complete. I have a problem with the clutch. It wont engage at all. Is there a diagram that can show me how to set everything up properly?

I dont think that will work. The problem is that on the outside of the bike were you connect the clutch wire to the engine its so lose and yet when i kick it in first gear the tire moves automaticly. When i pull in the clutch handle nothing happens.

also when i pull the clutch in it wont go back out by itself.

turn the clutch lever at the gearbox on the splines to take up the slack in the cable.

    Just read-over this whole Post.

Check everything mentioned in my article.

The trick is to get the Clutch Cable TIGHT.
    Not too tight.
But so tight that when you work the Clutch Lever ... the Cable starts to move!

have you got the bike on the centre stand while this is happening, if so it is normal, clutch drag.

Take a 3/4" wrench around 19mm if you like and gently move the clutch arm down on the engine where the cable connects. it is nice to have two sets of hands one guy holding the clutch lever in while you are gently turning the arm. THere should be very little movement after the clutch lever is pulled all the way in maybe 1/16th-1/8th. adjust the cable until this is what you have. Another thought you mentions a motor swap how long has this other motor been sitting?? It is possible the clutch plates are stuck together. some guys have had luck trying to ride it as is and it busts free. others have had to take out the basket and gently seperate and clean all the plates and basket then reassemble.

well my neighbor whose a motorcycle machinic came over.. Drained the oil checked the gears and it ended up that the gears were not set right. Only took about 20 minutes. He also found out the throttle stuck and found the problems. Runs amazing. starts up first try cold and idles around 1100
