I have the chance to buy a 87 Radian 600 (probably a 86) at a give us an offer price, but can't do it unless I can get in not running home. It sat for 15 years with just over 4K miles on it. Really beautiful shape. If you have sent a bike anywhere, or have tips on how to get it on a train or DHL or a shipping buddy who will take payment in cheesesteaks, please send me a PM or just post it here. The bike is near Bristol Maine and I need to get it to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

    Thanks,

    Jon

I'd post my phone # to talk about it, but that seems to be frowned on. I leave here on Friday so any timely talk would be more appreciated. Thanks.

I have no referrals as I have never shipped, but there are bike shippers out there.
Try a google search of "motorcycle shipping"

I gotta say... A sight unseen, not running bike, pay to ship it home after you negotiate a price? Sounds like something I would let become someone elses "opportunity". If there's something I don't know then I could be wrong, but as explained... well, not such a bargain.

If you said, I happen to be going to Maine this weekend and will be driving my pick-up does four or five hundred dollars sound fair I'd say check it out then go for it :)

Wow Syracuse, darn decent of you... I have to agree, buying a non-running bike from a distance is a shot in the dark unless you know the seller, well! I don't think I'd give more than $200 for it with a title. $400-500 isn't to bad for shipping, especially for door-to-door.

he did say 4000 miles and beautifull condition... I'd pay 400 for that. Assuming we had the same idea of "beautifull". Beware the "looks great for that model year" line ;)

You'd have to go right by my place on your way up to Maine. You can have "Crash Space" on the couch or sectional if it helps get the Mission done.

Turns out any savings I'd have had on the make an offer was going to be lost on shipping or u-haul. Turns out it is around $350 to put a trailer hitch and ball and wiring on, and then $140 or so for the trailer one way. That plus a $300 offer would have been beyond my "hey I'm on vacation" decision making process. I felt o.k. going up to almost $600, but as it kept creeping up I gave up on it. Maybe next year if it's still around I can plan ahead to set the situation up better.

You just have be patient and then, of course, find it!

U-HAUL? Trailer? C'mon now! Borrow your neighbour's Subaru and be done with it...

Or even better, just rent a unlimited mileage mini-van for the weekend and heave it in the back. That's what rentals are for!

Oh yeah... And if you rent a U-HAUL trailer just get a local rental and pull it there and back. It's only about $12/day that way.

That is crazy but a man has to do what a man has to do. I would give a nickle to see a video of them getting it out of there.

Getting it out was a lot easier than getting it in. Just slid the forks back into the clamps, pulled the bike out until the rear wheel was almost to the bumper then stood it up, lowered the front wheel to the ground and with me on one side and a friend on the other, grabbed it by the back and gently eased it down to the driveway. Nice'n'easy.

Now getting it in the car... Not so easy.

Holy Cats!!! That is one heck of a work-around. Glad you were sucessful Maiximum. I stuffed my 650 into the side door of my 77 GMC Vandura way back. Three guys to wrestle it in there and two to wiggle it out. Worked out ok. Darn bright of you fellows, I'm thinkin a Forrester isn't such a bad idea.
