    Hi-
Yesterday I disconnected the wimpy "roadrunner" OEM horns on my '82 Maxim 750, and installed a Strebel air horn on the circuit for the left horn. Followed install directions, all went well. Horn sounds like a Mack truck and works properly. However (there always seems to be a 'however') now, when I start the bike up, and the sensor runs through it's cycle, the warning light flashes and the FUEL icon remains lit. I installed the relay for the horn on top of the air cleaner housing, and ran the wiring up front to the horn. I am thinking that when I bundled the wires up with cable ties, so they wouldn't sag on the engine, I did something to cause this. Any ideas how to sort this out? Will it harm the sensor if I cancel the warning flasher and just let the FUEL icon stay on? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Terry

That's a bit of a head scratcher for sure.

I'd start by putting it back to the way it was before the problem started to see if the warning lights go out. If they don't, then you probably have a problem with the wiring as you suspected. If the lights go out, then you may have a grounding problem through the horn or relay.

Probably pulled the fuel sending unit connector loose.

^^^ That sounds easier. Check that first. Thanks, rpgoerlich!

Thanks for the ideas. Now, I just need to figure out where that wire is. Back to the manual.

Wire comes from the tank. Check and make sure it's still connected to the tank sending unit. Follow it to the connector on the other end.

Problem was the wire at the bottom of the fuel tank. Found it and fixed it. Thanks to all who replied. Terry

"Sounds like a Mack truck"? The Strebel/Wolo horns I've heard all sound like they belong on a European sports car, not a semi. Was there a particular model of horn that you used?

Hi- Here is a link to where I bought it. http://www.bikerhiway.com/stebel-nautil ... anguage=en

Mack Truck? Well maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration. But it is very loud compared to the OEM horns. I saw mixed reviews on the Stebel, but I thought for the money (less than the OEM Nikko horn I bought from the dealer) I decided to take a chance. Time will tell. Terry

I have heard good things about that model horn... Man I need to get a set I have two horns on the bike and could have it off balance by only replacing one LOL.

I put on of these on each of my bikes. I wonder why I did not do it earlier. People will notice me now.

Got a Stebel-Nautilus on mine. It has saved my A** many times over. It's a great wake up call to the four wheeled, cell phone crazed crack heads. I am even putting one on my truck. Awesome horn!
