You "Foot-drag" on Dirt Track with the Bike in a controlled slide.
    You shouldn't foot-drag on pavement.
Keep your foot on the Peg.

On pavement you certainly do not want the bike to slide.
You don't want the "Vector" to change and upset the line you select into a corner.

If you foot-drag and anything causes your foot to be forced behind you; your whole body will shift and interrupt all the forces in play that are keeping you in the line of the turn.

When the natural tendency to bring your foot back forward happens in a reflex action; the reaction is to PULL your dragging foot back forward.
This reflex action results in pulling on the handlebars.
Before you have time to say: "Crap" ... you either deepen the turn or low-side the bike.

Foot dragging on pavement is bad form.
Keeping your foot on the footpeg and shifting your entire body over will keep the Vector and let you lean-over far enough to drag your knee.

no no no rick my foot is ON the peg all the time. id never do it dirt bike style. what i mean is like i lean enough into turns sometimes that my foot (on the peg) starts to touch the ground. usually i use that as an indicator that "ok youve leaned far enough."

in no way would i ever take my foot off the pegs especially in a turn. thats asking for a hyper extended knee

You can lay them over too far. There is this exit ramp I use evert morning to get to work and every day I try it a little faster. Well the other day I heard the foot peg scrape and I said that was fast enough.

I had the distinct pleasure of surprising myself pulling out of a left turn and scaring myself and the poor pedestrian walking on the sidewalk with a scraping sound yesterday. Too darn easy... I think I'm going to ease off a bit (but it's so darn hard to resist twisting that throttle pulling through a curve!).
