    Hey guys I Gots the call today after tomorrow I will no longer be employed. So onto my question if it comes down to keeping food on the table and paying the house payment down the road here what can I expect to get or what should I ask for my bike. It is a 85 maxim X 700 It has 24k on it right now Fresh paint Very fresh I don't even have the tank, side covers or anything back yet from the shop. It is going to be sunburst orange pearl(08 dodge color) Has saddle bags, the tall maxim backrest, runs and drives great. New tires(less than 600 miles on them at the moment). The left mirror, and blinkers have some rash on them from the PO, None of them broken just rashed a touch. I don't have any current pics as I am waiting on the tins to get it back together. Any replies are welcome. Oh I am located in S.W. michigan if it matters. I hope I don't have to sell but if it has to be it has to be Thx.

    Unfortunately it's getting toward the end of the season and most buyers have satisfied their urge.
    Sounds like you put a lot of sweat and blood into it. From what I've seen, a NICE one will fetch close to $2200 or more in prime season. More realistic expectation $1500-1800 these days.

    Unfortunately I already have two, but love that color!

    I'm with Mike, you will take a beating now. In the spring you could command a great price. Here in NC you could get every bit of the $2200 maybe a bit more. In May and June Bikes went crazy.

    So message is if you can hold out till spring you will get a better price but you gotta do what you gotta do. Sorry to hear about your job.

    Check Craigslist and see what going prices are.

    been watching xjs in se michigan

    below 1500 for an xj in good condition goes quick
    good condition 1800 takes a while to sell

    above 1800 has got to be in near flawless condition

    this is via my relentless watching craigslist which is the cheapest place to buy bikes and quickest

    you can probably get more if you go through auto trader or something like that

    if you do sell it make an xjbikes post first please i know a couple of guys who would possibly be interested

    Sorry to hear about the job. Went through that in '06 just before I got married (yep, married me anyway).

    Don't forget unemployment (don't know what it pays in MI) and keep a positive attitude. Something will come up, hopefully before it comes to selling the XJ.

    Option...Sell it to someone you know with the condition of having first option if they decide to sell it later.

    thx for the reply's guys, unemployment i will take care of tomorrow. The Boss mentioned a severance package i will know the details of it tomorrow as well. I just got the tank and side panels back from paint this evening and rode her home from my friends garage for the first time in a month. was nice to ride it again for sure esp without a 20oz waterbottle full of gas ziptied to the backbone Lol.

    That is awesome! I'd love mine to look like that. If you've put that much work into making it look like that I'd be real reluctant to give it up.
