My roommates friend was just here and I said that I was going to be cleaning the carbs on my 80 maxim that I will be picking up soon and he tried saying they were mikuni carbs. I tried telling him I was on a forum of people that know what they are talking about with these bikes and he would just say "how many bikes have you owned?" "How many bikes have I owned and worked on?". He just walked away instead of taking 5 minutes to learn that what I was saying is correct.
On top of it he called yamaha's junk and his harley was great and talked about someone selling a great old 60's harley at a great price. I've heard some ppl talk about the way some harley owners are but I've not met one like that until now.
Ug, I think I want to throw something but I don't have anything I am willing to break....
I even had my computer on and could have had the site up in a few seconds to show him the talk here about the carbs!

Should have run him for pinks. I have a Harley it was built for distance not speed

Throw one of your HITACHI carbs at him and see if that helps him understand.........

chacal, I think I'll wait until I have a spare one in hand. Don't want to mess up the ones I'll be cleaning up. :^)

I think a lot of that confusion may be that they look alike....
Even internally, there are only a few minor differences between the Hitachi and the Mikuni. I wouldn't be suprised if they were made in the same factory.
