I'm thinkin of going the cheap route and having some highway bars made for my '82 xj maxim, but instead of getting them chromed I was going to get them painted a candy red like the rest of the bike.Anyone else have this done or think it will look OK??

If I could, I'd powder coat all the chrome on mine - I prefer the matte black to shiny by a long shot.

Get it powder coated - the coating is much tougher than paint, and you can get it in many many colours and finishes - not just matte. Sounds good though!
