This might be a stupid question but how do I get the fuel tank off. MY service manual does not specify. I could only visibly see one bolt next to fuse box. The back feels loose but there seems to be a mount plate there also. Where are the front mounts and how do I get to them.

you should just have to lift the rear of the tank and pull backward. there are 2 rubber mounts that the tank slides onto that its hanging on. just give it a good tug..

Thank you. I was afraid to just start pulling at it.

When you look under the tank from the back there is a metal clip that slips around that bolt that is sticking up.
It sounds like yours might be missing.
Disconect the fuel and vacum lines from the petcock.
Jiggle the tank back towards you, careful not to hit the front on the neck.
Getting it back on is the real trick.

No. Its there, just couldnt see how to get a wrench around it. Or how to get the clip off.I'll have to give it a better look. The back felt loose. I wasnt for sure that I had to mess with that or not. I'l take another look at bike bandits diagram too.Thanks.

Yeah, just pull back on the clip, it comes right off.
There is a metal spacer under the clip, that also comes off.
Be sure you know how it camec apart.
When I first got my bike I reach under there and pulled the clip right off.
I could not figure how it went back on with the spacer.
I had to swallow some pride and go to the local shop and ask.
They told me they could show me but then they would have to kill me. :D
So I said here it is put it back on I won't look.
