That has popped up a couple of times, and he never gets any bidders. It LOOKS almost home-made, so I emailed him. It's a "period" accessory from a company called GSM that is still around (thanks Google) making automotive racks and stuff. I offered him $60, and he turned me down so I told him to let me know if he changes his mind. Even from that poor photo, you can tell it's not quite up to the same quality as the genuine Yamaha article for that bike. I had two SR500s in the early '80s, and had REAL Yammie racks on both of them (that's why there's an unused mounting tab on the right similar to the one that mounts the grab rail on the left.) Yamaha got $49 for their luggage rack back in the day, I didn't think this one was worth $80 as much as I could use it. I'd give a certain left body part to find a real Yamaha rack for my Seca. Jan 25 for me, you?

My brother and I, once we get 'spare' time are going to hit a few of the bike salvage yards in NH. I would like an original, but aftermarket would do if it was priced right.

If you find two, keep your 'ol buddy Fitz in mind...I wish I could find an '81, '82 or '83 Yamaha ACCESSORY catalog, the dealer used to have one copy you could look through to choose from...seems to me the search would be easier if we had the part number.

With your stable Brian, if I find an original in decent shape, I'll even give you first option before I put it on my seca.

No way. Only if you find two. That guy is in Guelph, Ontario which is only a couple hours' ride from here, I was entertaining the idea of going and having a look. I don't mind the price so much as I am suspect of the quality. If it were a GEN-U-WINE Yammie rack, I'd have it on the bike already.

Fitz - nice try in getting him to drop the price, seems a bit unrealistic to expect 80 - 120 bucks for it - especially since the canadian and US buck are now at about par. I am going to build my own, thats about 20 bucks worth of steel tube there and 10 cents worth of paint. I would much rather model it on an original Yamaha part, my current design is using flat steel and tubing in a different combom, easier for me to weld and stronger I think
