extractor should shift it, as there is some movement.

you should be able to drill 1/2" deep with impunity. make sure you're centered though.

There are some differences to Pilot Mixture Screws.
    The right thing to do?

    Remove one of the others.
    Measure its diameter and depth.
Wrap a few turns of Masking Tape around the Drill Bit at the appropriate depth to act as reference for you not drilling too deep.

I had this same problem with two of my pilot mixture screws on my carbs. Be very careful when drilling them out as you can actually ruin the carb body! The hardest part of extracting them is drilling them in the CENTER. I used a punch to make an indent in the center of the mixture screw so that the drill bit would wander towards the indent and drill directly down the middle. I started with a real small drill bit and worked my way up to a bigger one until I reached the size that was needed for the particular extractor bit that I owned.

Of the two mixture screws that were stuck, one extracted with no problems. The other wanted to be a pain in my rear and the extractor bit would just dig away at the soft brass. I had to use alternate methods on that mixture screw and gradually increase the size of the drill bits and keep drilling it out until there was practically no brass showing and I could pry bits and pieces of it out with a pair of pliers. Unfortunately, I didn't get the direct center of this mixture screw so I wound up drilling some of the carb body and mixture screw threads out. I wound up purchasing an M6x0.5mm bottoming tap to clean up those threads. Even though I drilled some of the threads off, there is still about 75% of them left and the mixture screw still threads into the hole, so I think I should be good.

Well, to be honest, I had a friend do it in his drill press, but I was there the whole time!
