Bike has been running pretty good lately, last time i took it out for a little run a week ago everything was great. Today, i went to crank it, and it just spins and spins. Sounds like it's not firing (i've had that issue a few times with this bike and it always went back to harness connections in the fuse block or the TCI). i checked those connections again, and yeah, they could be cleaned better, but they arent too bad. I picked up an old plug out of my box and plugged it into the wires from each coil, and i did get a spark on each cyl, a little weak, but still a spark (used plug could be making it weak looking).

Can anyone pull a rabbit out of their hat and give me an idea? I was really wanting to ride tom, been raining like heck around here lately and now it's getting right again.

    thanks as always guys!!!!!

I had the initial problem of a battery with a weak charge not allowing the TCI unit to deliver a spark, but that may not be the issue here. You could try throwing the battery on a charger and see if that helps you.
After I did that, mine fired right up.

Well, i did get it to crank up. I opened a small propane torch and let it suck into the airbox. Took it up the road and it ran like crap. After Gustav, i took a five gallon can of gas i had got for my generator and poured it into my bike. I'm thinking bad gas, petcock problems or debris in the system (no inline filter).

The gas flows freely from the petcock in the prime position. When going own the highway at about 60 sputtering like crap, i switched it back to prime again and no change in the sputtering, so i am thinking more of a fuel quality issue rather than delivery.

Will post more when i replace the gas.

Replaced gas, still sputtering like hell. I'm thinkin i passed some trash down to my carbs. Any suggestions at this point that dont involve rebuilding carbs would be welcome. Work is way too hectic right now to start a project like that.

Does it run with a little "Choke"?

Spray some Carb Cleaner or vent some Propane into the Airbox Inlet.
    Does it run?

Yes? You have a Fuel Delivery issue. (Carbs)
    No? Ignition related.

    I hope it's just a low Battery.
Check the Alternator Brush Length (10mm Min.)

No, i did get it running, just runs like crap. Definitely seems to be delivery as it hits some rpms and does ok at around 40mph or so. I'm pretty sure it's the carbs, they were in need of a little attn anyway, guess i was hoping i was missing something simple.

Thanks guys, i'll have to pull this thing apart along with the fork seals since the summer is about over anyway.
