Nice colour! What paint did you use for the engine? Is it tough? I used Dupli-colour satin black engine enamel and it's too soft.

also, did you buy the front fairing, or did it come with the bike? if you did, where can i get my hands on that. it makes the bike look so slick.

Engine paint has been a real pain in the arse for me. I have tried a lot of different types with not so great results. The kind I am using now is Rustoleum Hi temp BBQ paint... I believe it says high gloss or high lustre. It works well on headers also. Another trick to keeping the headers nice is to heat them up after they have dried and then spray a rag with WD-40 and wipe down the pipes. After that, reheat them again and then WD-40 one more time. The fairing is from a Triumph Bonneville. If you look closely, I also lowered the headlight 3.5 inches. I took the pipes off to paint but taped the engine up still in the bike.

    hey Bane,

did you use the stock headlight in that bonnie fairing? if so did you have to widen it?

reason i ask is because i thought the xj headlight was an 8 inch and the bonny fairing (i thought) was 7inches.

The windscreen is from a wrecked 2xxx triumph bonneville. I bought it with some road rash for $1, plus 6 bucks shipping and handling. Yes the bonnevilles are 7inch. It is a lil tight but nothing that worries me. The problem was attaching the fairing while the trim ring was off and then attaching the trim ring. Makes a great place for a twenty ounce bottle or a set of gloves. Those shocks are from a 2004 Harley Dyna Glide. and the tail light is a drag specialties. gauges were also lowered about 3 inches and leaned forward more. By shaving down the foam in the seat, It slimmed down the look and also eliminated the problem of the tank snackin' on my berries.
