An audio clip would be nice -- I went to the Acumen site, and to my dismay, didn't find a link to hear what they sound like.

Fitz, let me know how they work out........I notice a bit of weaseling on their website, as they claim 134dB measured AT THE HORN, while the horn itself is stamped 105dB (just like the originals).............sound pressure measurements are usually expressed at a 1m (about 3') distance from a source, and sound pressure levels diminish at a rate proportional to their distance from the source......

here's a link to the product http://www.fiammamerica.com/Product.asp?ProductID=154 the sound on my computer doesn't sound like the sound of my horn... my originals were anemic at best one didn't work and the other was no louder than my bike. this echos through the neighbourhood. Found it for $20 at canadian tire.

Unfortunately there are no standards for measuring the DB ratings so they fudge. I read an online review that showed 135 db horns at 89 db 20 foot out. They used 20 foot figuring that was a practical usage distance.

I got one of the chrome ones with the blue background. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with it - not very loud and very tinny tweeter pitch. Maybe it was a bad one.

I replaced it with a single Magnum horn (I have dual Magnum Blasters on the FJR) - way louder and deep penetrating tone, no comparison.

They claim to stamp them 105 to get around the regs. I mainly bought them because they look a lot like the originals but they're black, and claimed to be the answer to crappy stock horns. We shall see--they were cheap enough that if they aren't up to expectations, I'm still open for ideas. I have the luxury of being able to mount these on my '83, park it right next to the '81, and do a test. If the difference is enough to notice, I'll make an audio recording for you. They're coming from across the pond, so it may be a few...
