Hey y'all. Everyone around here seems to drive much slower when I'm on my bike, so I started to think my speedo is about 10-15% slow. Pulled the cable, cleaned inspected and oiled it. I don't think it's the cable though because the needle is dead steady.

Before I pulled the unit apart I thought I would check what's easy first.
The manual says the bike should have:
    3.25 H19-4PR
    Installed I have:
3.25-19 54V Metzler lazer somethings (forgot to write it down)
The local dealer says the 3.25 x 19 is all that's important -- is this truth?

seems to me the shape / profile could make a significant difference.

    thots?

Re: front tire size check please

Thanks Polock! So the aspect ratio is missing in both designations. Is it reasonable that one could have a 10%+ larger final diameter than the other? Looks like I might have to buy one of those little computers.

OK, so I got the planet bike Protege. My speedometer was 15% under at 25 MPH and a whopping 20% under at 50 -- I was doing 59.7! Of course the little magnet went flying off at this point 'cause I did not wait until the epoxy was fully set. I though: "weird -- how is that pebble going exactly my speed?" as it rose up in front of me for a split second.

On the upside I am not at timid as I though -- taking the 40 MPH curves at nearly 50 doesn't make me feel so bad! Thank the gods that I did not get a ticket passing all those "grampas" . . .
