Alrite well i took off my Honda mufflers on my maxim, cleaned and polished them, and got my bike ready for the sportster mufflers on the way(thanks beanflicker). I started up my bike, WOW mix between harley and a crotch rocket. rode it, loved it, never backfired. and went about 5 miles, ears didnt ring, just fine.
but anyways, i looked down the mufflers, and there was nothing in them! its just a cone with a hole at the end slitghly smaller than the hole that leads into it. Is this 1985 tech, or is there something im not seeing going to work here? or is all this muffler just an expansion for air and then it has to be forced through a smaller hole?

The "Other Way" link has to be the funniest thing I've read in a long time. I'm going to have to go back to my old DodgeTalk haunt and post that link. We always got a good laugh with making fun of the Civic ricer crowd and their Type R stuff.

Nice! I do have some extra coffee cans in my shop.
Do I have to use blue paint, or can I use red paint? My bike is red.

I never tried this on my red 92 Cherokee Limited.
I may have to try this on my red 98 Cherokee Classic. It already has more HP than any run of the mill Non-RED Cherokee just by the paint alone, right?

Only if you add a TypeR sticker to it Steve. That alone is worth 100HP.

oh yea, I got markers! I could write TypeR on everything!!!

may as well go for some weight savings and write LEXAN on all the glass! I can't imagine how that wouldn't be a huge help!

Schooter; The mufflers could have been designed that way or there may have been an "obstructing" baffle in there that the PO drilled through. (Common mod no matter what bike.) I can look right through the stock mufflers from my Norton but can see louvers on the inside surfaces. I cannot look through the stock mufflers from my Secas, there is a plate about 3" in from the rear that blocks further viewing, and is part of the internal "chamber" system. Your mufflers are Honda, the only way to know for sure would be to find another one you know is original and look through it.

Honda GL 500 has an empty megaphone with an endcap with a short 3/4 inch tube outlet with small holes in it.

My '82 Maxim 750 has the endcaps removed, revealing an internal plate with (i think) 4 holes and (from memory) 2 have short tubes going further in.

My 900 has this TINY aluminum glasspack. Surprisingly quiet at lower RPM 's
