i was thinking about getting a maxim tank with a sending unit. i am going to be changing out my gauges this winter and the gauge i really like has a fuel guage built in. how would i wire in the sender? does the unit just ground itself and send some wire back to the sender?

I haven't traced out the wiring diagram for that part of my seca, but I'm pretty sure it's integrated into the gauges. Like one lead from the gauges goes to the sending unit, then the other lead of the sending unit goes back to the gauges. If I can find my wiring diagram I'll see what I can find for you.

Well Turtle, my sender uses two wires, a ground (routed through the sender coil) and an output from that to the gauge. This indicates that the coil completes the circuit through the gauge with the power on the opposite side of the gauge (indicating voltage).
