Anybody see a reason that this coil wouldn't work for our bikes? I measured one of the coils on my Seca 650 and it was 4.5" X 1.875 X 1.875 the center measurement on the holes was 4 to 4.125. The one I linked to was 3.5 max but the orientation looks like it would be easier to adapt. A technical drawing would be nice but I couldn't find one. It's 3 ohms.

This one looks interesting too. I can find variations of it all over in several different brands, but none of them have dimensions or drawings.

nice find. if you got either one of those coils, would you have to change anything else or would they just drop in?

I'm kinda wanting a second set of eyes on them, but I think there would need to be a little modification done. The distance between the holes is a little shorter than on our stock coils so we would have to move the one of the mounts, add one, or use a small piece of metal to make an extension. I think the last option would be fairly simple.

I think these are 5/16 taller than ours and I'm not certain how that would affect us. I tried to get a shop drawing today from Dyna, they said they'd email it, but I never got it. I may try again tomorrow. We need a better option than the green coils.

Anybody see any problem electrically that I may have missed?

The first link for the compact coils at 3 ohms should work fine. I would have doubts about the second link without knowing what the primary resistance is.

I think you better do a little research and phone-calling to the Tech Lines of those Manufacturers before buying them.

I do not think they will work with your 1982 650.

It all depends on when your Bike got made and weather its CDI or TCI

    Do the do diligence.
    Call and check.
The call's probably an 800 Number.
