    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the site, but I've been wrenching on my XJ700 for a little while now. I'm definitely not an expert, but I'd like to share with the world the things I've learned from all my mistakes.

What I want to do is create an HTML troubleshooting flow chart, since I couldn't find one that was available anywhere else, either in the Yamaha service manual (I don't have an aftermarket manual--maybe they are available there?) or online. I think this would be cool because you could click on problems you are having, and proceed down the tree until you find a solution.

I'm hoping people will help with this, or let me know if I'm being silly and there already exists one of these. So, I'll put my attempts up at http://web.mit.edu/~torrez/www/troubleshoot.html and wait for commentary. Please note that at first, there will not be much, but as people suggest things, it will get filled in.

    Sean

Welcome to you Sean, your efforts are appreciated. A flowchart of sorts does exist in the Haynes manual but it is pretty basic. I don't have the factory manual so I don't know what all exists there. I expect lots of people here would have plenty to pass on to you.

    Pygmy,
Thumbs up on your effort. It would be a great idea. I am a member of 4 different forums just for that issue - ie: trouble shooting. I've even found some answers on non-yamaha forums and you'll be surprized what you can find if your sitting in front of your computer for a week (can't ride, too much snow)
You'd be surprized what you learn from these forums. I never in my wildest dreams figured you could put Harley parts on a Yamaha or Honda.
Since I been "on-line", I found more useful information on modifying my bikes than I ever imagined possible. Good luck! >PD<

This may have once been a great "FAQ" but the link at the top is now dead, making this thread relatively useless, in case any one cares. :)

The link is not working. Do you have a link to post?

    Thanks
