    Hi All,

Now that I have now got all the switches on the XJ900 cleaned and working properly, I'm looking for a protective grease to stop any more corrosion getting in the switch contacts - particularly the main key switch. We have actually had some rain in the last few days. The original grease in the switches is most likely contaminated with that green corrosion that occurs on the copper contacts, and I've ended up wiping most of it off anyway.

Yamaha switches are excellent - every part held together by screws and readily serviced.

I have tried a few automotive, and electronics shops, and so far all I get is the "kangaroo in the headlights" look from the staff.

I have found a Tamiya brand of switch lubricant, which is used for hobby radio controllers, and it seems to be suitable. Anyone ever tried this? Or can you recommend a brand?

NAPA auto parts stores has this stuff - about $ 6 a tube. Silicone electrically conductive grease - wonderful stuff - works great to eliminate corrosion on battery terminals and chassis ground connections. You'll find all kind of good uses for this stuff.
